About the Opportunity
The Officer, Donor Engagement is a key member of the Donor Engagement team supporting and contributing to the development and execution of a comprehensive donor engagement plan, which supports the Foundation in reaching its fundraising goals and in deepening trust with our donor community across the province.
The Officer, Donor Engagement will oversee the impact reporting portfolio and coordinate donor stewardship activity across the Foundation with a focus on communicating impact of their support to our donor base. Impact updates for both non-endowed and endowed funds are provided to donors on an annual basis or subject to mutual agreement and internal guidelines. Updates are shared through multiple platforms including printed/digital reports, videos, meetings, and specific events. This position works very closely with the Development Writer and the Finance team at the Foundation and with BC Cancer stakeholders.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Campaign and Donor Engagement, key responsibilities for this position will include:
- Providing project management and coordination support for all reporting initiatives across the Foundation, ensuring that reporting deliverables and activities are assigned and completed on a timely basis and progress is monitored.
- Briefing the Development Writer on deliverables, managing their workflow, and working closely on reviewing and refining written materials.
- Facilitating the creation of impact reporting, with qualitative and quantitative reporting to donors, in partnership with internal teams including the Finance team.
- Oversee the photo library and needs for reports.
- Managing Endowment fund reporting, utilization and communication with BC Cancer and finance teams.
- Assessing current donor reporting processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and executing process changes relevant to both non-endowed and endowed funds.
- Coordinating and collaborating with relevant Foundation team members and BC Cancer staff to ensure they are clear on deliverables, responsibilities and timelines
- Working in tandem with fundraisers to support donor relationship management via face-to-face, virtual, telephone and written interactions
- Updating leaders on progress, status and at-risk initiatives and recommending remedial actions.
- Reviewing project budgets, expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
- Supporting and implementing event components for donor recognition and cultivation events, as well as providing on-site leadership at donor events (including digital and in person components) on a needs-basis.
- Contributing to the innovation of programs and projects to steward donors; identifying creative and effective opportunities to recognize the impact of corporate and individual support
- Building strong working relationships with team members, vendors, donors, physicians, hospital and research staff
Core knowledge + skills:
- Demonstrated organizational, time management and project management skills with a proven ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure, in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Experience in donor reporting, process improvement, account management and an understanding in finance and endowments would be advantageous
- Strong writing skills adaptable to different audiences and demonstrated ability to articulate messaging persuasively and succinctly
- Strong attention to detail and data analysis skills
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to be resourceful and creative
- Strong technical skills with high level of familiarity and effectiveness with data, technology, online platforms, computer applications, and digital engagement, or to be adept at learning trends in digital engagement
- Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a dynamic team setting
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, when required
- Knowledge of or experience working in a fundraising environment would be advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.

Qualifications:
- Relevant education plus five years of experience in a similar role, preferably working within fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- A willingness to work beyond work hours, evenings as required, and occasional travel throughout the province of B.C.
Salary Range: $58,000 - $70,000
