About the Position

  • We are searching for a permanent Employee Relations Coordinator to join our Human Resources team.
  • PBCs compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000 per year; the base pay offered is based on market and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. The starting salary will be determined based on a combination of skills, education, and experience. The role is eligible for short-term incentive pay based on a combination of individual and company performance.

Key Ways This Position Makes An Impact

 

Labour/Employee Relations Services

  • Provides support on a variety of labour/employee relations issues including labour and employment law, HR policies and practices, performance management, attendance management, grievance and dispute resolution, progressive discipline, organizational changes, and the administration and interpretation of the Collective Agreement by supporting labour relations in:
    • organizing, compiling, and making sound judgements on confidential information. Documenting confidential employee relations matters (e.g., bullying and harassment complaints), and coordinating appropriate resolutions.
    • tracking, coordinating and supporting Labour Relations through the grievance and arbitration processes.
    • supporting the Employer at grievances, investigations, committee meetings, disciplinary meetings, arbitrations, and collective bargaining sessions, as needed.
    • drafting employee communications pertaining to Collective Agreement administration for review by management and/or HR Business Partners (e.g., grievance responses, investigation correspondences, non-disciplinary and disciplinary letters, special leave/attendance management, and workplace accommodations), and sending approved communications, as required.
    • reviewing bargaining unit, exempt, and management employee questions, concerns, issues, complaints, and coordinating a timely response by the Labour Relations team.
    • compiling, maintaining, tracking, analyzing, and reporting metrics related to employee performance, absenteeism, and other labour relations matters for management.
    • facilitate the coordination of the bumping and displacement process.
  • Supports the efficient and effective functioning of Labour Relations through a variety of coordination and administrative services.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the employee/labour relations landscape, and human resources policies and practices.
  • Performs other and hoc duties, as required

Key Experiences You Bring To This Role

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in human resources within a unionize environment.
  • Diploma in business (or equivalent) with a major in Human Resources.
  • Solid understanding of B.C.’s Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Code, and Human Rights Code.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change, apply critical thinking, and navigate ambiguity effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, or working towards its completion, or equivalent.
  • HRIS experience with Workday.
