Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist with expertise in Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapies and interest in hematology

British Columbia Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth.   BCCH also provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and operates a wide number of specialized health programs provided through a number of health services provider groups. As the main pediatrics clinical training site for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), BCCH is the leading acute care teaching facility in the province, and conducts research to advance health and knowledge through the BC Children’s Research Institute, and collaborations with other institutions.

The Oncology/Hematology/BMT program has recently moved to the new Teck Acute Centre, at the Oak Street Campus of the BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Care Centre. The new inpatient unit features 27 single-patient rooms. The new outpatient unit features 23 single-patient rooms. The program sees 140 new oncology patients and 400 new hematology consultations per year, and performs 25 transplants annually. Additionally, the program is a funded member of the Children’s Oncology Group and has a highly productive research program with over 3 million dollars of grant funding per year.

Regular Full Time Position

 

 

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology, Bone and Marrow Transplantation has an outstanding opportunity for a Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist with expertise in Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapies and an interest in hematology to join our well-established team at BCCH.

Responsibilities encompass patient care, teaching, clinical and/or laboratory research. Applicants must have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in pediatrics and will have completed a recognized training program in pediatric hematology/oncology. Additional training or expertise in pediatric bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies and/or an established track record is preferred.

 

The successful candidate will be appointed at the appropriate Clinical Faculty rank at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine. Academic rank and clinical salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

 

The anticipated start date is July, 2025.
