BCEHS Intends to fill 2 (two) vacancies for Full Time Regularly Scheduled Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) at Station 140- Victoria.

 

Any successful candidate who has not yet completed the ACP Orientation would be required to attend the orientation in Vancouver - TBD.

 

Employees will be selected for this vacancy in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

 


All applicants, including in-post employees who want to take part in the shuffle process, must apply to the posting AND submit the Post Shuffle Preference Form to ensure their shift pattern and platoon preference is considered by seniority when assigning positions.

 

To complete the application process all applicants applying to the posting must: Apply to the posting and submit a completed Post Shuffle Preference form for the purpose of shift pattern and platoon selection. Both steps must be completed by the closing date of the posting; apply to the posting and submit the Post Shuffle Preference Form.

  • If an Employee applies to the posting but does not submit a completed Post Shuffle Preference form, the applicant will not be considered as an applicant for the posting.
  • If an Employee submits a Completed Post Shuffle Preference form, but does not apply to the posting, the applicant will not be considered as an applicant for the posting.

 

The Form can be found on the BCEHS website at https://liquidoffice.bcehs.ca:4433/lfserver/EHS_0176 and must be submitted to the BCEHS Recruitment Helpdesk following the instructions on the form.

 

Forms submitted to managers, unit chiefs or other areas will not be accepted. Employees must submit a separate form for each posting. Forms submitted for multiple posts or postings will be deemed invalid. Shuffle preference forms for this posting will be accepted up to and including November 11, 2024.

 

The shuffle process will take place immediately following recruitment of FT regular positions. Vacancies will be filled by seniority and request for all positions throughout the process. Current FT Reg Employees will only be moved if one of their preferred positions become available. Employee request forms will expire upon completion of the shuffle, and employees will need to submit a new request for all future postings.

Please note, employees accepting any Regular position under the Collective Agreement will not be entitled to rescind an accepted offer after 61 days of accepting the offer. Regular and Irregular employees may only rescind within the 61 days after acceptance. You will also be required to report to your new position within the 61 days of acceptance. Employees that rescind an offer at any time are not guaranteed to be placed back into their current/prior position.

If the number of qualified applicants is insufficient to fill the posted vacancies, the applicant list from this posting will be utilized to select candidates for training as per Article 13.05 of the Collective Agreement. All qualified and unqualified applicants are encouraged to apply. 

 

Preference for these training positions at an EMALB approved training provider will be given first to unqualified applicants within the post, followed by unqualified applicants from outside of the post. The selection process will adhere to the criteria outlined in section 13.05(b) to determine eligibility for training.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the selection process at least 7 days in advance.

 

Applicants must successfully apply and be offered training in one of the approved ACP Programs, or be currently enrolled in the one of the approved ACP Programs. All pre-requisite courses must be undertaken in the employee’s own time and at their own expense prior to the beginning of ACP training. A successful applicant must apply for the JIBC EMA Education fund or Columbia Paramedic Academy Foundation to cover the cost of the expenses associated with the ACP Program, including, but not limited, to tuition, textbooks, and uniforms. 

 

Successful applicants will be posted to Victoria post as an Irreg ACP trainee upon acceptance of a training position. Upon completion of the ACP Program, and licensure, they will enter into ACP Orientation as a regularly scheduled employee on probation.
