Job Summary:

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.       Provides and coordinates nursing practice activities such as patient assessment, patient and family teaching, and health promotion activities in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Three years recent related pediatric cardiac clinical nursing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Ambulatory care experience or community health service experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to relate effectively to children and their families.
• Ability to make decisions in an independent manner in a clinical setting.
• Ability to function as an active member of a multidisciplinary team, and function as a nursing resource.
• Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate educational sessions based on the principles of adult education.
• Ability to operate related equipment (e.g. personal computer).
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
